The people and lawyer(s) guiding and leading the dreamactivist[.]org / NIYA efforts are trying to sabotage reasonable comprehensive legal immigration reform (CIR) this year. The founders are on record for wanting to creatively kill CIR and have also supported 2012 Republican Presidential Candidate via Mitt Romney even though Romney supported self deportation ideas reminiscent of Arizona’s draconian SB1070.

One of the main lawyers guiding them is David Bennion — and he has family ties to the Mitt Romney family. David Bennion has been a well known vocal critic against the Obama administration and Democratic politicians who are already in support of CIR and are considered “yes” votes in the House of Representatives. Yet, this same man who is opinionated on immigration said nothing when Romney was pushing horrible ideas of self-deportation and was receiving advice from Kris Kobach who is a well known legal architect behind many of the self deportation laws.    Therefore, we have no choice but to believe David Bennion chose to look the other way when Kobach became an advisor to the Romney campaign in light of his family ties and association to the Romney family.  It could be that David did not want his family in Utah to feel uncomfortable if he were to criticize Mitt. This is understandable considering his father is John Serge Bennion who is a professor at Brigham Young University (BYU), and considering his father collaborated with Ann Romney and sons on the “Mormons of Faith” project.   David’s father was also listed as one of the Mormon 100:  100 Most Influential Latter-day Saints In History. Ranked in this prominent 100 list included Joseph Smith (founder of the Mormon Church), Jon Huntsman, Henry Eyring, Geroge Romney, Mitt Romney, Gordon Hinckley and more.

Though it may be understandable for David Bennion to not want to put his family in uncomfortable settings in Utah — perhaps he can understand why Mexican Americans like myself are equally uncomfortable with his unreasonable open border ideas that appear to be giving false hopes to the desperate, undereducated minor Mexican immigrants are hoping for.   Mexicans and Chicanos are my people — particularly the immigrants who do not fully understand the collateral damage and consequences of supporting open borders.   I do not like seeing them get taken advantage of.   Just as David was essentially shielding Mitt Romney from further immigration criticisms — I do not appreciate David leading Mexicans (my people) into situations that will cause Republicans like Rep. Matt Salmon to view them as anarchists and/or leftists.

In fact, David Bennion has no agency to speak on behalf of the millions of Mexican immigrants and the Mexican American community. Furthermore, I do not see Mexican American Legal Defense Education Fund (MALDEF) lawyers getting behind the sham movements he participates with. It’s common knowledge the Republican-controlled House of Representatives will not entertain anything to the tune of open borders he pushes for in the post 9-11 ear we live in.

David Bennion blames Obama for immigration laws architected by Rep. Lamar Smith after the Oklahoma City bombing. He said nothing to Romney's self-deporation ideas during 2012 race.

David Bennion blames Obama for immigration laws by Rep. Lamar Smith who was the architect after the Oklahoma City bombing. Bennion was not as critical against Romney’s self-deporation ideas during 2012 race.

David Bennion has been helping these anti-Obama efforts for quite some time now. He has worked with DreamActivist.org and now the National Immigrant Youth Alliance (NIYA) — and both groups are responsible for encouraging Mexican immigrants (like Lizbeth Mateo) to self-deport (thereby affecting and disrupting their immigration status) and the exploitation of minor children. Both groups are also helping the prison system by encouraging immigrants to put themselves in detention centers and wasting American tax dollars.

Mohammad Abdollahi (an Iranian immigrant and founder of both the DreamActivist.org and NIYA) has stated he wants to ‘creatively kill’ comprehensive immigration reform in 2013. Prerna Lal (a Fijian immigrant and cofounder of DreamActivist and supporter of NIYA) is also on record for stating she does not support the immigration reform plan recently passed by the Democratic-controlled Senate this year in light of the existing wall. In addition to David working with and being counsel for actions promoted by these radical organizations, he has been silent with regard to Mohammad’s financial scam of “legal coyote” work when there is no such thing according to the FBI and DHS.

Mohammad has also stated he wanted to bring back all 1.7 million deported immigrants — despite the ones who have real and dangerous criminal records.  Yet, wouldn’t this be the time for their lawyer to explain the laws to Mo and Prerna thus highlighting how irrational and impossible it is for this extremist group to bring back all 1.7 million deported?

What is David Bennion’s agenda?

What are David’s views with regard to Manifest Destiny?

Why didn’t David tell DACA eligible people to simply fill out the form and not self-deport because it affects their immigration status?

Why does he believe bogging detention centers and wasting American tax payer money are good ideas?

Why is he advocating for open borders knowing full well Republicans will not sign onto it?

Why does it appear David Bennion has an all or nothing approach to CIR?

Does he want to ensure the Obama administration does not sign a CIR bill because it does not fit into his open border agenda?

Why are the organizations Bennion is working with targeting Democratic offices and Obama when they ought to target Tea Party GOPers like Rep. Steve King and Senator Ted Cruz  who want nothing to do with immigration reform passing?

Why are DreamActivist and NIYA leaders stating: “Tea Party Republicans are not the enemy to CIR — Democrats are?”

Is this political posturing setting up the framework on future elections?

Where were David Bennion’s criticism of Mitt Romney when Romney supported similar policies to SB1070 and had Kris Kobach as an advisor?

Why was Mitt Romney (candidate supported by extreme Tea Party supporters) spared from Bennion’s wrath and the same wrath speaks against Obama?

We now know David Bennion has family ties with the Mitt Romney family.

Mildred Bennion (grandaughter of John Bennion in the David Bennion family association) married into the Mitt Romney family via Henry Eyring. A long Mormon pioneer lineage linking the two families can be found in volumes of ancestry data Mormons keep really good track of.

romney bennion family cronyism

I considered it a subtle red flag when I discovered founders and supporters of DreamActivist and NIYA founders (Mohammad and Prerna) were supporting Mitt Romney in 2012. Why did they chose the Republican candidate over the Libertarian (former Republican) Gary Johnson when Gary had more lenient immigration views than Romney?

I believe cronyism and family plays into David Bennion’s inability to be objective with regard to politics.  He demonstrated this much when he was silent on Mitt Romney’s self deportation views.  Yet this is the same man, who is providing counsel to actions and protests by these radical organizations.

In my view the lawyer David Bennion is encouraging the desperate, the undereducated immigrant minors to chase pipeline dreams for open borders even though he knows damn well the Republicans in the House of Representatives will not support it.

It is hypocritical for Bennion to endorse actions of pseudo dream activists who are protesting politicians who are on the record for supporting comprehensive immigration reform in 2013 while putting no pressure on the obstructionist Tea Party.

Perhaps David Bennion needs a shot of tequila in order to see who is really behind the anti-immigrant movement.
